Rya Merschat
Rya’s yoga journey began with a deep love for movement, which evolved into a lifelong commitment to nurturing the mind, body and spirit. With decades of experience and a tenured career as a professional modern dancer and choreographer, Rya has learned the importance of steadiness and ease (Sthira and Sukha), both on and off the mat. Her classes are more than just a series of movements- they are transformative experiences designed to nourish the whole being.

Expect a nurturing and alignment based class with creative sequences and space for integration in body and mind. Rya aims to create a container that holds space for you and supports your practice, whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned yogi. She offers creative and flowing Vinyasa sequences, grounding meditations, clear cues and attention to breath. Rya is a devoted mom, passionate choreographer, and lover of nature. Off the yoga mat, you will find Rya spending time with her family, walking her dog, enjoying time in the mountains, traveling and connecting with friends. She continues to choreograph and teach dance.
Rya is a lifelong student and has benefited from every teacher she has taken a class from, but considers her students to be her greatest teachers of all. Educators that have made an imprint in her yoga journey include Beth Sanchez, Jen Wilking, Jeremy Wolf, Buffy Barfoot and Kristine Whittle. Rya is a Yoga Alliance experienced teacher (E-RYT 200) as well as a continuing education provider (YACEP). She is certified in Vinyasa, Restorative, Yoga Nidra and Yin. This Vinyasa flow links breath to movement and includes dynamic poses, inviting energetic vitality through purposeful movement. Vinyasa is unique in the balance it creates between effort and ease; movement and stillness. You’ll be guided to transition from pose to pose while staying connected to your breath. It’s easy to start and challenging to perfect, but we find that many qualities found in a flow sequence can be applied to life off the yoga mat. Single classes are $24. There are discounted class packs and memberships available.
